Job Description:
The IIoT Engineer is responsible for designing and developing software solutions to enable connectivity and control of sensors and actuators at the Edge. The IIoT Engineer draws on a background in Electrical and Computer Engineering and extensive knowledge of communication protocols, messaging systems, embedded Linux and device management.
- Mandatory Job Description (Must Have):
- Sensor Integrator: Capable in identifying/selecting and integrating appropriate sensors, actuators, and devices for data collection, monitoring, and control.
- Network Infrastructure: Capable in configuring communication protocols to connect devices, sensors, and gateways i.e., modbus, MQTT, OPC-UA, radio PTMP (half-duplex).
- Data Analysis: Capable in developing customized algorithms and data analytics to process and analyze the collected data from sensors for insights and actionable information. For example, predictive maintenance models, anomaly detection, and optimization algorithms.
- Integration with Legacy System: Capable in integration IIoT system with existing legacy system (e.g. SCADA system, network/communication system, database system) to create a seamless workflow
- Maintenance and Support: Capable in monitoring the IIoT system infrastructure, addressing technical issues, and performing routine maintenance to ensure the uninterrupted system operation.
- Field Deployment: Capable in conducting site survey visit, deployment/installation and onsite troubleshooting in the well/platform/rig (remote) site.

- System Design: Capable in designing IIoT solution system architecture that integrate sensors, devices, gateways, networks, data, and cloud platform.
- Data Visualization: Capable in implementing visualization tools and dashboard to present data trends, alerts, and actions.
- Cybersecurity: Capable in ensuring the security of IIoT system by implementing robust cybersecurity measures to protect against data breaches and cyber threats.
- Regulatory Compliance: Capable in ensuring that IIoT systems comply with industry-specific-regulations and standards related to safety, data privacy, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
- Technical Skill Qualifications:
- Education Background: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, including but not limited to Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics (Industrial Automation), or Computer Science.
- Work Experience: Has experience of 3 – 5 years in IoT related positions, familiar with IoT use cases in industry.
- IIoT Competency: Proficiency in IIoT technologies, protocols, and platforms. Familiarity with IoT communication protocol (e.g. MQTT, OPC UA) is essential.
- Programming and Software: Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python, C/C++, and knowledge of IIoT platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
- Data Analytics: Skills in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling to extract meaningful insights from sensor data, including creating the use cases simulator.
- Personal Traits Qualifications:
- Communication: Good communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Good in critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify technical root-cause problems, troubleshoot/solve technical issues, and optimize IIoT systems.
- Team Work: Good in working with others, share and take ownership on responsibilities, and contribute to common goals.
