Job Description:
As a Moodle PHP Developer at Overt Software Solutions, you will play a key role in the development and maintenance of our e-learning platform. You will work closely with the development team to enhance and customize the Moodle learning management system to meet the unique needs of our clients.
Key responsibilities and duties:
As our Moodle PHP developer your regular duties will include but are not limited to:
- Develop, customize, and maintain Moodle plugins and themes to enhance the functionality and user experience of the platform.
- Collaborate with instructional designers and content creators to integrate multimedia elements, interactive assessments, and social learning features into Moodle courses.
- Ensure the platform’s performance, security, and scalability by implementing best practices and optimizing code.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and provide technical support to end users.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Moodle and PHP trends, recommending and implementing improvements accordingly.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements for new features and integrations.
- Assist in the integration of Moodle with other third-party tools and applications.
Applicant specifications:
Education: Good spoken and written English, a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related field.
Desirable experience:
- Proven experience in Moodle development, including customization, plugin development, and theming.
- Strong proficiency in PHP and web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Familiarity with LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
- Experience with database design and SQL.
- Knowledge of e-learning standards (SCORM, xAPI) is a plus.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.
